Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 pan with foil, spraying it with nonstick spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter and dark cocoa powder until smooth. Add sugar, eggs, espresso powder, and vanilla extract; beat until light and fluffy.
  3. In another bowl, mix salt, baking powder, and flour. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients without over-mixing.
  4. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25-28 minutes. A toothpick should come out slightly sticky.
  5. For the frosting, mix heavy cream and instant coffee until dissolved. Beat softened butter with salt until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar along with the coffee mixture.
  6. Melt dark chocolate chips with heavy cream in the microwave until smooth; drizzle over the frosted brownies once cooled.
