  • 300 g Cavatappi macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Beef broth
  • 3 cups Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water (for béchamel)
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté thinly sliced onions for about 30–40 minutes until caramelized.
  2. If onions stick, add beef broth and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour until golden; gradually stir in heavy cream until thickened.
  4. Mix two-thirds of the caramelized onions into the béchamel sauce along with seasonings and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cook cavatappi macaroni until al dente; combine with béchamel sauce.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
