- 1 lb smoked sausage (chicken or turkey)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 2 1/4 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley (for garnish)
- Crushed red pepper flakes (for a little heat)
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add sliced sausage and brown on both sides (2–3 minutes each). Remove from the pan.
- Lower heat to medium and toast rinsed rice in the same skillet for 1–2 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Combine chicken broth, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce; add to the skillet.
- Return browned sausage to the pan; bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook on low for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender.
- Let rest covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
