  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and yogurt until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed.
  5. Spread half the batter in the pan; layer half the apple slices on top.
  6. Add remaining batter and apple slices on top.
  7. Mix sugar and cinnamon for topping; sprinkle over the apples.
  8. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown; test with a toothpick for doneness.
